GiveDirectly is launching a cash response to Tropical Storm Ana in Malawi, which hit in January and destroyed 33K homes. Months later, 190K people are still displaced within the country. Direct cash transfers can help them rebuild their lives.

We’re reaching recipients in Mulanje, a poor district that was severely damaged (and where few response efforts have focused).

We leveraged existing staff & technology to launch a response quickly. Given the extraordinary need, we want to reach each of the 18,000 families impacted with 3 months of support.
