Hurricane Ian (3,050 recipients paid) This storm made landfall in southwest Florida on September 28th. Over 2.5 million people were ordered to evacuate their homes, leaving them with rising expenses to cover the cost of food, temporary shelter, transportation, and more.
Hurricane Fiona (1,698 recipients paid) This storm made landfall in Puerto Rico on September 18th, displacing 12,500+ people. Weeks later, Puerto Rico remained in a federal state of emergency, with over 100,000 residents still without power.

Who is eligible to receive money?
Together with our partners at Google, we’re using aerial storm damage imagery and poverty data to identify the highest-need communities. We then target, enroll, and pay people fully remotely through the Providers app used to manage SNAP benefits.
How much money are you sending?
We immediately distributed one-time $700 payments to families impacted by Hurricanes Fiona and Ian. These transfer sizes are designed to cover the cost of common post-disaster recovery items, such as food, baby formula and diapers, first aid supplies, toiletries, portable generators, gas, and radios.
We anticipate providing additional relief to families who have been most severely affected to support long-term recovery and rebuilding. We are continuing to assess which communities have been hardest hit through a combination of on-the-ground scoping and analysis of poverty and storm data.
How much of my donation will reach people in need?
Over 90 cents of every dollar donated was delivered to recipients in our previous emergency relief programs. The remainder was spent on key aspects of our operations: identifying the recipients most in need, preventing fraud, and ensuring a high bar of customer service.
